PRINCE GEORGE – Hundreds of people filled a room in the Coast Hotel to hear federal Conservative leadership hopeful Pierre Poilievre speak.

Over an hour before the event was set to begin people started gathering in the hotel conference room. Prince George area M.P.’s Todd Doherty and Bob Zimmer introduced the Ontario-based M.P. to the avid supporters.

“He is really really good at explaining complicated things in a simple manner,” said Christian Quickfall, a supporter in the crowd.

Others are ready for political change and think Poilievre is the man for the job.

“I am ready for something new and I think this guy is legit and what he says is what he means,” said Dexter Fawcett, who traveled from Vanderhoof to see Poilievre speak.

Poilievre touched on several topics including policy he would want to enact if he was elected Prime Minister. He said he would repeal bill C-69 which changed how major infrastructure projects are reviewed and approved. Poilievre also wants to remove the shipping ban of petroleum products off the west coast and approve oil extraction off the coast of Newfoundland.

Poilievre has several more stops in southern B.C. including Kelowna and Vernon Saturday (Apr. 9) and a swing through Alberta including stops in Calgary and Edmonton.
