PRINCE GEORGE—Over 100 people including Indigenous leaders and political representatives from all levels of government made it our for Saturday’s solidarity walk for Ukraine.

Some people who arrived carried flags and posters. Some carried stories of their past. An open mic was offered to anyone who wanted to share and some did. Some shared stories of family ties to the war-torn country and some told stories of hope that their home countries would change course and support Ukraine.

A round of speeches and the singing of both Canada’s and Ukraine’s national anthem kicked off the solidarity walk Saturday afternoon. Indigenous drummers led the pack as the crowd walked from the Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park Pavilion to the Yalenka Ukrainian Hall.

The images of the day really hit home. The message being sent from the walk is loud and clear. Prince George supports Ukraine.

After making the walk back to the pavilion the crown held a minute of silence for those lost and still suffering.
