Cougars’ Ethan Samson gets named BC Division 2nd Team All-Star
PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George Cougars defenceman Ethan Samson was named to the B.C. Division Second All-Star Team for the 2021-22 Regular Season, the Western Hockey League (WHL) announced Thursday.
Samson, 18, posted career highs in goals (15), assists (28) and points (43). The 18-year-old finished fourth in team scoring and was the second-highest scoring defenceman on the Cougars’ roster. Samson led the Cougars with five game-winning goals and was tied for the team lead with eight power-play goals. The Philadelphia Flyers prospect was second on the team in shots with 235. The Delta, BC product was just one of two players on the team to play all 68 regular season games. To date, Samson has played in 151 career regular season games and has posted 18 goals and 62 points.
The WHL announced today the Edmonton Oil Kings will select first overall in the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft following the completion of the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Lottery. Prince George will pick 16th and 29th overall.
The 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, 2022, and will be conducted online at WHL.ca. The 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will consist of two rounds and 44 selections, with each WHL team presented the opportunity to have two draft selections.
