Avalanche Canada revamps online app with ‘Flexible Forecast System’

PRINCE GEORGE- When winter hits in the mountains around Prince George, it can make for some awesome conditions for high altitude, backcountry touring. In fact, our terrain is world class, and every year it draws in crowds of skiers, snowmobilers and boarders from all edges of the earth, who congregate here each season for a chance to carve up some of the best backcountry available anywhere, but it doesn’t come without some huge risks, or the potential to end in disaster.

An accurate forecast and an understanding of existing snow pack conditions, is as critical a piece of your avalanche safety kit as anything else. If you head out without checking conditions, you’re flying blind into an enviroment that could put you in serious trouble in a hurry. The never ending quest for better forecasting tools, has led Avalanche Canada to revamp their online app this year.

Avalanche Canada’s forecasts are specifically designed for the public consumer, their new revamped “flex forecast “system is tailor made to aid the backcountry explorer get access to the most up to date and accurate explanation for what awaits them in the hinterland of British Columbia.
