Rally demands policy change

PRINCE GEORGE – A small gathering of about a hundred people at the Civic Centre on Day One of the Natural Resources Forum, where Premier David Eby was the keynote speaker.

One of the organizers, James Steidle, spoke passionately about how current forest policy is “out of whack” and that the traditional practice of super mills is outdated.

He says policy needs to return to grassroots forest with smaller, locally-owned operations.

He says they recent announcement of Prince George Pulp Mill’s closure is evident that the current system is broken.

And he was quick to add that Canfor should be required to relinquish its tenure with that mill going down.
