PRINCE GEORGE – The heartbeat of traditional drumming echoed off the concrete of downtown Prince George and smoke swirled off a burning smudge stick, as Dale culver’s family and their supporters stood in solidarity on the courthouse steps, teary eyed, but with unwavering strength in their voices as they joined in song meant to honor his life, and pay respects to his spirit in accordance with his nation’s traditions. Wesley Mitchell, A close friend of Dale Culver, led the song and drum circle, as a tribute to his old friend, and as mark of respect for the family.

According to the family, the deferred court date was due to the late submission of some new information to the crown, and while frustrated with an extra 6 more weeks of waiting, on top of 6 long years to reach this point, they’re ultimately pleased that prosecutors appear to be pouring over all the details with eagle eyes, making sure all the facts are present before anything proceeds in the courts.

As the pulse of the drums ceased, a heavy silence hung in the cold morning air as the culver family and their allies reminisced on how far they have come since July of 2017.
