PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George School District says it didn’t back out of a lease to open a child care centre next to Malaspina Elementary School.

The district has set the record straight, arguing the building is on city property adding its “obligations are to provide services to its own buildings, property and the students who attend there.”

In a news release, the school district also disclosed its “legal and risk management team advised against moving forward” and says it remains “committed to providing childcare in our schools.”

The district says its Daycare Development Team has three more grant applications pending and are working diligently to find more opportunities within its spaces.
