PRINCE GEORGE – On the topic of video surveillance, Prince George RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl Jennifer Cooper stressed the importance of video quality, and maintaining the file format of the original footage.

Some best practices to keep in mind would be resolution no lower than 640 by 480. We also want to make sure that wherever the video cameras are positioned, people aren’t able to tamper with them. But at the same time, they need to be not so far away that we lose clarity of detail. So we still need to be able to see facial features, need to be able to see clothing descriptions really well. – CPL. Jennifer Cooper, PG RCMP Media Relations Officer

Having your personal belongings stolen can be nerve wracking for anyone, and waiting around for leads to come in can leave you feeling like you’re stuck in limbo, but calling police is still the best practice rather than getting involved yourself, since belongings are replaceable, but your health and wellbeing… not so much.
