Caledonia Nordic Ski Club gearing up to welcome Roller Skiing after $1 million grant
PRINCE GEORGE– Big news coming from the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club as a grant was approved by the BC Destination Development Fund which will see $1 million dollars going toward paved roller ski/roller biathlon competition trails. With the upgrades, it also brings a new sport to the area. Roller Skiing.
“Roller skiing and roller biathlon now are very big sports on the Nordic scene. So basically transferring what was done in the winter into the summer. They’re very, big in Europe and there are lots of events that are sanctioned right up to World Cup events.” – Kevin Pettersen, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club
The grant money will not only be making the Ski Club a year-round place to ski, but it also puts Prince George on the Nordiq map, as it’s a new place for athletes to train that very few cities across Canada have.
