High winds knock down pair of lighting poles at Freeman Park

PRINCE GEORGE – Two lighting poles have fallen onto the fencing and diamond at Chuck Cawdell Field in Freeman park, casualties of the wicked wind that blew through the city earlier this week.

The damage to the facilities have waylaid the Seniors Women’s Fastball Association’s game schedule this spring, putting the field out of commission until repairs can be made, and putting the non-profit organization on the hook for the costly repairs.

In a statement from city hall, city officials confirmed work crews were on-site disconnecting the downed light poles, that they’ll be removed for disposal. and only then will a timeline for compleated repairs to the facilities become available.

With more repair work still left to do on site, there’s no word yet on when the Prince George Senior Women’s Fastball association, or their affiliates can return to Cawdell Field.
