Williams played his high school basketball at Mount Boucherie Secondary for coach Michael Williams, where he averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists per game for the Bears. The swingman plays the game with purpose and joy, and is ready to take the step to the highest level of university basketball in the country.

“I love basketball because it has always been an escape for me and taught me so many lessons on and off the court. It has helped me build lifelong friendships.”

Upon graduation from MBSS in 2022, Williams joined Canada Topflight Academy West, one of the country’s premier prep programs based in Calgary. Training with coach Adam Huffman at CTA West, the 18-year-old rounded out his game with the intention of making the leap to Canada West basketball this fall.

Jordan welcomed his newest recruit to the Prince George campus, and was immediately impressed by Williams’ frame, appetite to further his game, and varied skillset.

“Drew has a big, physical body and moves well for his size, while possessing a strong overall skill set. He is a coach’s son and has a good basketball IG, displaying a true understanding on how to play team basketball. He is also a lefty which gives him certain advantages, so that will be great to develop. Coming off a prep year at CTA West, he will be well prepared and ready to make the adjustments that come with playing and training in your first year at the Canada West level. I am excited to welcome Drew to our program.”

Williams will enroll in UNBC’s business program, and join his new teammates for training camp in August.

“As long as I can remember, it has been my basketball dream to play at the post-secondary level. I am super excited to get out there and meet everyone, and I can’t wait to get the season going.”
