PRINCE GEORGE — The Hospice House Palliative Care Society is encouraging the Prince George community to walk 100k during the month of May.

The initiative is part of their annual Colour Walk event that hopes to raise funds towards the city’s hospice.

“It’s an opportunity for people to get out to the various parks in town, but also to sit and reflect and maybe remember some loved ones, have conversations, share memories with children and friends and family and at the same time raise money for hospice,” explained Donna Flood, the executive director of the Hospice House Palliative Care Society.

When asked how the money is raised, Flood said they have the support of sponsors, but a lot of the help comes from those who sign up to walk the 100k.

“We’re asking people that want [to participate], to get out and pledge. Pledge from friends or family to support you, to walk the ‘100k in the month of May,'” she said.

The goal this year is to raise 50 thousand dollars. The money will go to creating an accessible outdoor space for guests and families at the Rotary Hospice House.

People can sign up for free using the link provided on the Hospice Colour Walk Facebook Page and enter for a change to win lots of prizes throughout the month.
