PG Fire Rescue crews make quick work of highly public weekend fires

PRINCE GEORGE – On Saturday April 29th shortly after 3PM, Fire crews from 3 separate halls were dispatched to a structure fire on Redwood avenue. On Scene, crews found a detached garage with a carport fully engulfed in flames. Flames could be seen shooting up from the roof, engulfing the property fence, and a parked vehicle. Fire even singed a BC Hydro pole, and ignited a power line adjacent to the property. Crews worked quickly and professionally to extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries, the investigation remains ongoing and in this case, damages are estimated tobe around $50,000.

On Sunday afternoon, shorty after 2PM, another plume of black smoke could be scene overhead in downtown Prince George. Fire crews were quickly dispatched to an encampment near the corner of 5th avenue and Ottawa Street. On scene emergency crews found a single room structure fully engulfed. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the investigation is ongoing. There were no injuries, and this time damages were estimated at $1500.
