Impaired driver arrested on Highway 16 Monday evening
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP have said that a report of an impaired driver led to an arrest Monday.
On Monday, May 1, police received a report of a suspected impaired driver shortly after 6:00 pm. Witnesses said that they were following a motorcycle towards Prince George on Highway 16 East, which was traveling under the speed limit and the driver was swerving in the lane.
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says that “the investigation led police officers to a residence on the 2900-block of Highway 16 East where they located the suspect, who was found to be unlicensed. During the subsequent arrest of the suspect, one of the police officers was assaulted.”
The driver of the motorcycle was arrested without further incident and was released on an undertaking with a future court date. The police officer was not seriously injured in the altercation.
