Catchment and capacity continues to be an issue for SD57
PRINCE GEORGE — Catchment and capacity continues to be an issue in School District 57, as the topic was discussed at Tuesday night’s board meeting.
Trustee Sarah Holland gave a report from the Catchment and Capacity Rightsholders and Stakeholders Advisory Committee and the committee determined that there were two main areas of concern for the 2024/2025 school year: Duchess Park Secondary and Peden Hill Elementary.
Duchess Park has capacity for 900 students and has a current enrolment of 510, leading the committee to recommend that the catchment for Duchess Park be removed with restrictions in order to allow for greater student registration to a maximum enrolment of 920, effective September 1, 2024.
