PRINCE GEORGE — Both University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Timberwolves basketball teams dropped their first of two weekend games in Langley against the Trinity Western University Spartans.

The women’s T-Wolves basketball team held a 19-17 lead over Trinity Western after the first quarter Friday (Feb. 2) but it was all Spartans the rest of the way in a 73-51 loss. Rebecca Landry led the way offensively for UNBC with 13 points on 50 per cent shoot (6/12).

Like the women, the men’s T-Wolves basketball team has a thin lead over Trinity Western after the first quarter: 31-29. While it was a closer content, the men went on to lose 97-90. Spencer Ledoux led the T-Wolves in scoring with 27 points on 12-for-19 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists and five blocks.

The men fall to 8-9 on the 2023-24 Canada West season, good for 10th in the standings and a spot in the play-in portion of the playoff bracket. The women fall to 4-13 on the season, good for 14th in the standings and one game behind the University of Manitoba for a play-in spot.
