Job Fair at UNBC “a hubbub”

PRINCE GEORGE – “We do desperately need people. Yes. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, who are interested in making a difference in their community and upholding justice and which is a part of it.”

Corporal Jennifer Cooper represents the RCMP, one of 85 employers represented at a job fair hosted by UNBC and every one of them needs people.

“I think there’s a couple of great reasons why this is so important for us,” explains Dr. Geoff Payne, President of the university. “One, to have employers come to campus and see the university and meet the students. Secondly, with the students getting ready to graduate or looking for employment, the way to sort of bring them together and really match that is just great. And as you said, quite a hubbub of activity.”

The pandemic put a damper on employment options for young graduates, but employers are now clamouring to fill the voids. And Dr. Payne is the first to acknowledge this is, by far, the largest and most eclectic collection of employers yet, filling the entire length of the Bentley Centre and the Wintergarden at the other end.

The Northworks Career Fair moves to the College of New Caledonia tomorrow.
