Bridget Moran Award handed out

PRINCE GEORGE – Bridget Moran was a force to be reckoned with in her day.

“She wouldn’t take no for an answer about things she really tried to organize to to change the way that things were done within social work, with reference to kids, with reference to indigenous communities. And. And she ended up getting fired for it,” says Dawn Hemingway, UNBC Professor Emerita.

And she is an inspiration to aspiring social workers all across the province. And as part of Social Work Week, the Northern Branch of the B.C. Association of Social Workers awarded the Bridget Moran Award posthumously to Jim Campbell, accepted by his daughter and his wife.

“Jim has been a fixture in social work for many, many years. In many ways, he both is a member of the B.C. Association of Social Workers, very active in our northern branch on the executive. Also, though, very active in the Board of Registrars. Originally the Board of Registration, now the College of Social Workers.”
