Local mounties seeking dedicated volunteers to help fill the ranks
PRINCE GEORGE— Have you ever wanted to be the RCMP safety bear, or help provide restorative justice to youth and adult offenders? Now’s your chance to learn how you can help as the the Community Policing and Victim Services Units will be hosting an information session at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 at the Prince George RCMP Detachment located on 455 Victoria Street.
“Volunteers make such a difference. We are grateful for our volunteers who have provided us with their amazing generosity and dedication over the years, and we are looking to expand this dedicated volunteer team in several key areas.” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
The areas that need volunteers are
- Community Policing Front Desk – front line workers serving witness subpoenas, fielding inquiries and assisting customers.
- Restorative Justice – help with providing an alternative to the criminal justice system that focuses on accountability, problem solving and community healing.
- Victim Services – provide emotional support to victims or a crime or trauma; liaise between the victim, Court system, law enforcement and community agencies, as well as providing referral services.
- Safety Bear- the goodwill ambassador and mascot of the Prince George RCMP. In this role you will be attending special events and citywide functions.
