Prince George’s unemployment rate holds steady at 4.4%

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George’s unemployment rate remained at 4.4 per cent in July.

Statistics Canada says that’s the three month average in the city, and note that’s down from 8.8 per cent in July of last year.

One of the reasons is that the participation rate – or the number of the working age population from 15 to 64- rose from 64.4 per cent in 2023 to to 68.4 per cent this year..

Over 56,000 people were working last month in Prince George, compared with 49,500 in July 2023.
