PRINCE GEORGE – For some, finding a family doctor feels like searching for a rare gem. Even when you manage to see a doctor, securing an appointment can take time. Northern Health recognizes this need and has developed a virtual clinic for residents in the region.

Health professionals at Northern Health are available to take calls for medical assistance every day, for twelve hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“The clinic was a response to COVID-19 and came about in March of 2020, and the Ministry of Health recognized how the virtual health means could support rural and remote health care and allow people to access care in and from their homes.”

Regional Manager, Northern Health Virtual Primary Care

The virtual clinic primarily serves individuals without a family doctor but will also accept calls from anyone in the Northern Health Region.

According to Northern health officials, the virtual clinic based out of the Scotiabank building downtown Prince George has alleviated a lot of pressures on emergency rooms.

Individuals looking to connect with a healthcare professional in the Northern Health Region can call 1 844 645 7811.
