PRINCE GEORGE – Ginter’s Meadow stands out as one of the largest off-leash parks in the city, and a local advocacy group is urging Prince George City Council to safeguard this area for future generations through its Official Community Plan.

Jenn Matthews of Ginter’s Green Forever notes that the most recent draft of the OCP eliminated plans for roads through the park. However, tshe says there is still a significant amount of work to be done.

“ Council has an opportunity on Monday to put some amendments forward to better protect Ginters”

Councillor Garth Frizzell says that no roads will be constructed through the meadow in the near future and says utilizing the OCP is the best way to safeguard the area.

“ It is extreme, unlikely and unforeseeable that there will be a road push through that park any time in the near or distant future.”

Meanwhile, the Ginter’s Green Forever group is encouraging residents to urge city officials to maintain the area in its current state for the benefit of future generations.
