Two arrested for drugs possession in Burns Lake

BURNS LAKE — RCMP in Burns Lake arrested two people following a traffic stop of a person known to them on Friday, May 30.

Mounties say its Crime Reduction Unit (BLCRU) has an ongoing investigation involving the person known to them. Police say the person was seen operating their vehicle and was stopped for a motor vehicle act offence. Police observed suspected drugs in plain view and arrested both the driver and passenger.

A search of the vehicle yielded over 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine, over $5,000 in cash, a cell phone and evidence of drug trafficking.

Further investigation resulted in a search warrant at the suspect’s residence where police seized approximately 300 grams of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, psilocybin, various prescription pills, illegal cigarettes, 15 tabs of LSD and over $10,000 cash. Items associated to drug trafficking were seized along with edged and blunt edged weapons.

RCMP say the suspects were released without process pending further investigation.

The location of where the suspect was pulled over and their residence was not released by police.
