Year-over-year unemployment rose to 6 per cent in Prince George in May

PRINCE GEORGE — The year-over-year unemployment rate rose in Prince George.
According to Statistics Canada, the three month average ending in May was 6 per cent, up from 4.6 per cent a year ago.
Statistics Canada says 50,000 people were working last month in our region, 3,200 less than this time a year ago.
The greatest job losses were in wholesale, retail and in accommodation and food services.
