PRINCE GEORGE — Diego Johnson scored his 13th goal of the year with 53 seconds left in the third period to lift the Penticton Vees to a 3-2 win over the hometown Prince George Cougars at the CN Centre Wednesday night.

This after Brock Souch tied the game at 2 at the 12:18 mark of the third period. It was his 14th goal of the year. Kayden Lemire had the other Cougars goal – his 8th of the year at the 3:52 mark of the first period.

With the win, Penticton swept the two games this week between the two teams. The Vees have won all four meetings this year.

The shots were 30 apiece. Things don’t any easier for Prince George as they entertain the league leading Everett Silvertips to town this Saturday and Sunday.

In other Cougars news, on Wednesday the team announced the acquisition of defenceman Kaeson Fisher from the Evertett Silvertips in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection in the WHL Prospects Draft.

The 18-year-old has spent most of the season with the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, recording 25 points in 29 games.
