PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars remain mired in a slump as they’ve lost their sixth in a row, a 4-1 defeat to the Everett Silvertips at the CN Centre Saturday (Jan. 10) night.

Josh Ravensbergen was outstanding in net as he made 40 saves, but he couldn’t power the Cougars to victory against the WHL-leading Silvertips (30-5-2-1), who are the first team to hit the 30 win mark this season.

Prince George (23-15-2-0) is still third in the WHL’s Western Conference with 48 points from 40 games.

Kooper Gizowski scored the lone goal for the Cougars at 18:35 of the opening period when he ripped a power-play one-timer from the right circle past Everett’s Anders Miller. Miller finished with 24 saves on 25 shots.

The Cougars led 1-0 after the first, but they gave up a pair of goals in each of the other two periods.

Rylan Gould and Carter Bear scored power play markers in the second period, while Kayd Ruedig and Zackary Shantz (into the empty net) added to the scoresheet in the third.

The Cougars will look to right the ship when they rematch with Everett at the CN Centre Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
