PRINCE GEORGE – A tech company that’s expanding in northern British Columbia is stepping up construction, hiring more local workers, and increasing its community investment in two communities.

IREN is building data center campuses in both Prince George and Mackenzie. In Prince George, all GPUs, which are the processors used for artificial intelligence and data computing, are either running or being set up. In Mackenzie, the buildings are getting ready for GPU installations planned for the second half of 2026.

The company is hiring for roles at both campuses and aims to fill them with local workers. You can find all current job openings at iren.com/careers.

IREN has doubled its Community Grants Program to $200,000 per site, up from $100,000 per site last year. This funding helps local organizations in Prince George and Mackenzie, and applications are now open.

IREN’s Chief Operating Officer, David Shaw, says the company wants to be more than just an employer in these communities.

“Prince George and Mackenzie have been foundational to our growth across British Columbia, and deepening our ties here remains a priority as we expand,” Shaw said. “The relationships we’ve built matter to us. We want the people and organizations that make this community thrive to feel that investment. We’re committed to showing up not just as an employer, but as a long-term community partner.”
