PRINCE GEORGE – It’s a chance to get some shopping done, take in the sights of downtown Prince George, and enjoy plenty of family-friendly entertainment. From a pancake breakfast to local artwork and food vendors, organizers say there is always something for everyone at Summerfest. This year, there’s also something new for food lovers.

Summerfest is expanding to two days this year, giving residents and visitors two unique ways to experience one of downtown Prince George’s most anticipated summer events. Taking place July 10 and 11 at Veterans’ Plaza, the event will feature the debut of Dinner Under the Stars on Friday evening, followed by the traditional family-friendly Summerfest celebration on Saturday.

This year’s event introduces Dinner Under the Stars on Friday, July 10. The exclusive 19+ ticketed outdoor dining experience will transform Veterans’ Plaza into an elegant open-air venue where guests can enjoy exceptional food, live entertainment, and community under the summer sky. The evening will feature a specially curated meal catered by White Goose, along with wine pairings, live music, and live art demonstrations. Attendance is limited to create an intimate experience.

“Our Summerfest this year is two days,” said Christy Berry, Executive Director of Downtown Prince George. “Tomorrow, July 10, we have our Dinner Under the Stars event. It is a ticketed event and it’s sold out, so we’re really excited about that. It will be an outdoor dining experience catered by White Goose with wine pairings, live music, and live art.”

The celebration continues Saturday, July 11, with the return of the annual Summerfest event that residents and visitors have come to know and love. Veterans’ Plaza will come alive with entertainment, local vendors, community organizations, and activities for all ages.

Families can enjoy a petting zoo, face painting, balloon creations, games, mini rail rides, a trivia wheel, and much more throughout the day. Visitors can also explore Vendor Alley, sample offerings from several food trucks, and connect with local organizations, including the BC Schizophrenia Society, which will host a community barbecue.

“And then on Saturday the 11th, that will be our regular Summerfest,” Berry said. “Family fun—come out and enjoy everything that downtown has to offer. We’ll still have the mini rail, face painting, the petting zoo, balloons—all of those things are free of charge for anyone who comes.”

Berry said organizers are expecting more than 35 vendors and between eight and 11 food trucks to take part.

“It should be a really fun time,” she said. “Anecdotally, I don’t know exactly what year Summerfest is in, but it’s been around forever. It continues to be a great benefit to merchants and to the downtown community in general.”

The new “Two Days, Two Ways” format offers visitors different ways to experience Summerfest while celebrating everything that makes downtown Prince George a vibrant gathering place.

Whether you’re enjoying an evening of fine dining under the stars or spending the day exploring family-friendly activities, vendors, and entertainment, organizers say there will be something for everyone at Veterans’ Plaza this July.
