B.C. Conservatives face renewed questions over party unity after second MLA departure
The B.C. Conservatives are once again facing questions about caucus stability after losing a second MLA in less than two weeks, adding new pressure on party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay as she prepares for a potential return to elected office.
Delta South MLA Ian Paton announced Monday he is leaving the Conservative caucus and will sit as an independent. His departure follows that of Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar, who also recently left the party ranks.
The latest caucus shakeup comes at a significant moment for the Conservatives. Just days ago, Abbotsford-Mission MLA Reann Gasper offered to resign her seat, potentially giving Findlay a path back into the B.C. Legislature through a byelection.
