Evacuation alert issued for areas near Endako due to wildfire
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an Evacuation Alert for properties near Endako as crews respond to a wildfire sparked by lightning.
The alert was issued Wednesday at the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service for wildfire G41970, which was discovered Tuesday. The fire is located in an area south of Tatin Lake and has prompted officials to place nearby residents on notice in case conditions worsen.
The evacuation alert covers all lands and properties south of Tatin Lake and north of Highway 16 and Savory Road. The affected area is bordered by Tatin Creek and the Sutherland Trout Forest Service Road to the east and Bomberger Forest Service Road to the west. The alert also includes all homes north of Highway 16 in Endako.
Residents are not being ordered to leave at this time, but authorities say they should be prepared to evacuate on short notice if necessary. Officials note that changing wildfire conditions could limit the amount of advance warning provided before an evacuation order is issued.
