Winds gusts of up to 80 km/h expected for Prince George and the Cariboo
PRINCE GEORGE — Strong, gusty winds are in store for Prince George Friday (Nov. 6).
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Prince George, Cariboo and 100 Mile regions, as well as Highway 97 from Clinton to 100 Mile House, as a strong, low-pressure system will bring a prolonged period of southwest winds with gusts ranging from 60 to 80 km/h.
“These southeast winds will peak by Friday morning. Winds may ease slightly Friday afternoon before an incoming cold front will bring a strong push of southwest winds, with gusts potentially up to 90 km/h between Quesnel and Prince George,” Environment Canada states.
The weather agency warns that local utility outages are possible, and there may also be damage to trees in parks and forests.
