PRINCE GEORGE — A group of 16 students from Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, Fraser Lake and Fort St. James have been in the city for the past two days taking part in several seminars at UNBC and elsewhere.
It’s part of a new science, technology, engineering, arts and management, or STEAM, program.
Organizers of the event say students in rural communities often miss out on opportunities to get insight into potential careers in advance.

“With these kinds of programs, it’s so easy for our students to be exposed to science, technology, arts, management, business,” explains Sagar Saxena, the Community Engagement and Partnerships Officer for School District 91 “For them to open up the horizon of career opportunities and higher education planning for them as well.”

This is the first year for the STEAM program in School District 91.
