Time Falls Back On Sunday

PRINCE GEORGE – On Sunday at 2 am the clock will go back one hour across many parts of Canada, except in parts of northeast BC, much of Saskatchewan and small spots in Ontario and Quebec.

Premier John Horgan says he gets a lot of requests from people to drop the time change to allow for more normal sleep patterns. But he says discussions with local businesses and trading partners convinced him to maintain the status quo.

Lara Beckett, Director of Area C within Chilako River-Nechako in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George says she is one of many that believe the time change is unnecessary, but there isn’t much she can do to change it right now.

“Certainly various local governments and through UBCM, we have requested this to the government and it’s up to them really.” Beckett says. “I think partly this is just the way that it has been for so long. There is various arguments that are still put forward in favour of it. So certainly some people agree with those.”
