Hidden Treasures At Cottonwood Island

PRINCE GEORGE- There are a number of community groups on Facebook that locals use to chat about neighbourhood happenings, achievements, and events. But there is one that’s a little different. It’s called PG Rocks, and it may sound familiar… it’s a way for residents to get outside and share positivity. It was started last year by Wendy Andrews after a trip to Mexico. “Actually, we were in Mexico on holidays and I saw they had Puerto Vallarta Rocks and I thought it was a really great idea so when I came home I thought I’d do it with the grandkids,” she said. She and her grandchildren paint rocks then hide them at Cottonwood for others to find. However, it’s more than just the Andrews family that does it, the Facebook group has grown to nearly 700 members. That’s something Andrews says she never expected. She’s encouraging other residents to get outside before the snow sticks to hide or find the handpainted treasures.
