Hospice 50/50 Draw Disclosure
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Hospice Society is letting those who bought tickets to its recent 50/50 draw that an internal error caused some of those tickets not to be in the draw itself.
About 3 percent or 300 tickets sold out of the 10,098 didn’t make it to the draw barrel, and the society plans to make amends by calling and mailing refund cheques to those ticketholders.
The error did not affect the recent Dream Home lottery or early bird draws. The society is issuing an apology, launching an investigation into the error, and has notified the BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
The Hospice Society relies heavily on fundraising to help operate the 10-bed hospice house which offers palliative care to about 250 patients every year.
