PRINCE GEORGE — A 22-year-old Prince George man has been arrested for an alleged break and enter in the VLA.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says police received a report of a break and enter in progress at around 8:15 a.m. on Moyie Street yesterday (Oct.31).

“The report was made by an alert neighbour that heard a scuffle and called police,” he says. “Officers attended and located a suspect being held down by the homeowner.”

Douglass says the man was allegedly breaking into a shed on the property and notes a small amount of drugs was located on him.

He says the suspect was held in custody overnight and will appear in court later today.

Douglass says all homeowners should take note of this incident.

“Sheds, garages and compounds are being targeted by thieves. Please take the extra steps to ensure your property is secured.”

Douglass is also reminding residents that they shouldn’t take justice into their own hands, and they should call the RCMP as soon as possible.

“As the police, our main concern is public safety and we would never condone somebody to take action into their own hands.”
