Volunteers Offer To Do Your Taxes
PRINCE GEORGE – If number crunching isn’t your thing, you may be able to get your taxes done for free.
Volunteers from the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) are helping people with simple tax situations, ‘simple’ being the keyword. Tax preparation clinics are being held in Prince George until the end of April.
However, program volunteers will not file tax returns for those with complex tax situations, such as:
· individuals filing returns for deceased persons
· individuals filing for bankruptcy
· self-employed individuals
· individuals reporting capital gains or losses
· individuals reporting employment expenses
· individuals reporting business or rental income and expenses
If you’re heading to a clinic bring all of your 2017 slips and receipts and a copy of your 2016 tax return and Notice of Assessment.
