Fire Pit Funding Continues

PRINCE GEORGE – Transitional funding for Positive Living North to keep the Fire Pit Drop-In Centre on Third Avenue afloat came to an end at the end of March. But there’s good news. Funding, and longer-term, has come from another source.

“Public Safety Canada is looking at providing (a) three to five-year funding contract that’s currently being finalized for the Fire Pit. That’s going take over (from) the Public Health Agency of Canada funding,” said Angela Paul, Manager of Program Operations. “So they want to work up to extending the hours of the Fire Pit because one of the hardest things for the patrons, is that there’s nowhere open on the weekends.”

The drop-in centre provides a location to get in from the cold, learn about social services or just have a cup of coffee and a game of cribbage.
