PRINCE GEORGE – After more than a year without a contract, the cafeteria workers and Tim Horton’s workers at UNBC have ratified a new contract that gives them a $2/hour raise, new pension benefits and improved medical benefits.
“We are very pleased that these issues could be resolved before it came to a strike,” said Jeannie Gilbert, a cook in UNBC’s Agora Dining Hall. “We feel the agreement addresses our concern and allows us to continue providing service to the students who rely on us.”
The workers undertook several job actions over the period without a contract and issued 72-hour strike notice earlier this month.
