City Tackles Windrows In Anticipation Of Spring Sweep

PRINCE GEORGE – City crews are removing snow on Priority 1 and Priority 2 roads to prepare for spring street sweeping.

The windrows that often extend several feet into the streets are melting slowly due to overnight sub-zero temperatures.

The City of Prince George’s Roads Division is presently flushing and sweeping sidewalks and medians in the downtown area.

Street sweeping is anticipated to begin early April to get rid of the traction materials like sand and gravel that were used over the winter. Couple traction materials with winds and high traffic volume, and it can create dust and hazardous conditions if not removed.
