Search For New Transit Home Continues
PRINCE GEORGE – The search continues for a new home of the City’s transit fleet and the parties have a little more time than originally scheduled to do so.
“When the projects were initially announced, the funding was to March 2018,” explains Jonathon Dyck, Communications Manager for BC Transit. “However, the federal government and the provincial government did extend that completion date for the funding to March 2019.”
This comes after the City and BC Transit unveiled the preferred location a year ago at Foothills Boulevard and 18th Avenue. But, after major backlash from residents, Council pulled the plug on that location. And the search continues.
“We’ve got Development Services looking at two or three locations in industrial areas,” says Mayor Lyn Hall. “So we’ll see that sometime in the next four or five months where Development Services thinks we have a better location than we did have.”
