Drumming Workshops At Pavilion Tomorrow

PRINCE GEORGE – It was another busy day at the new Lheidli T’enneh pavilion, with many events taking place.

One of the events was a series of interactive drumming workshops. Because it is a Pro-D day, plenty of school kids were in attendance for the event. The drumming workshops ran in conjunction with theatre performances and storytelling. The events are all repeated tomorrow for anyone who is interested. The drumming instructor, Marcel Gagnon says there is a surprising amount of interest.

“What we’re using is the big drum and that’s not from our people here,” says Gagnon. “We’ve recently adopted it. But there’s something about the big powwow drum, I guess because it seats so many people. Yeah, there’s just something unique about it and people enjoy that.”

There are more events at the pavilion tomorrow:
*The Blue Beads and Blueberries play is 45 minutes in length and runs tomorrow at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
*Storytelling runs at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
*Drumming Workshops run from 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
