Red Cross Mobile Shelter Unit Based In Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – Forest fires, floods or industrial accident, these are some of the crises we may encounter when living in Northern BC.  Prince George Canadian Red Cross office is now home to one of the four disaster response vehicles in BC. The mobile unit is equipt to respond to a crisis in any northern communities. 

The disaster response vehicle is a pick truck and trailer, filled with all the basic needs to support residents who have been displaced from their homes. 

The unit is designed to be deployed in various ways. From opening a 100 person shelter or to be used after a crisis. 

When a disaster is happening, the Canadian Red Cross disaster mobile unit will work with local government and emergency services. The mobile unit is run by volunteers and the  Red Cross is wanting to add to the disaster management team.
