Northern FanCon Expected To Bring Half A Million Dollars In Visitor Spending
PRINCE GEORGE -In the midst of Northern FanCon 2018 the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture are praising its economic benefits. This year’s three-day event is expected to generate about $500,000 in visitor spending.
“Northern FanCon is becoming an iconic event that attracts thousands of fans. This is great news for Prince George because it creates significant tourism impact and boosts the local economy,” said Lana Popham, acting Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Over the past four years, more than 50,000 people have attended the Prince George-based expo, travelling from as far as New Zealand, Japan and Texas. The line-up this year includes Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols, who is a major player in the history of women of colour in film.
An estimated 10,340 attendees and participants are expected, with almost half coming from outside Prince George.
