Two killed in weekend crash

PRINCE GEORGE — A two-vehicle crash claimed two lives on Highway 97 North over the weekend.

RCMP say the head-on crash involving a southbound commercial transport truck and a northbound passenger vehicle occurred Sunday afternoon (June 30) on Highway 97 North about 10 kilometres north of Bear Lake.

Cpl. Mike Halskov says the driver and one passenger in the vehicle died in the collision while the remaining person was airlifted by air ambulance to hospital. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

He says road and weather conditions were excellent at the time of the crash.

The collision closed the highway for several hours as investigators combed the scene.
