PRINCE GEORGE — One man is dead after drowning at West Lake on Canada Day (July 1).

Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass says police received a report of a non-swimmer that had gone under the water while in the swimming area just before 4 p.m.

He says the man was pulled from the water by members of the public, but was unresponsive.

Douglass says frontline officers attempted CPR in an effort to revive the man but were unsuccessful.
