Man sentenced for indecent act

A 26-year-old Prince George man arrested and charged for 10 indecent acts near UNBC has been sentenced in a Prince George courtroom. He received a suspended sentence with two years’ probation. The Crown stayed the other nine charges.

Blaze-full, smoky summers credited for fewer Search and Rescue calls

According to Search and Rescue (SAR) Manager, Dave Merritt, numbers have been down in Search and Rescue operations over the past few years.He attributes the decline to the wildfires that have blazed through the province the past several years.

Early morning crash off the Cariboo Highway

There was a two-vehicle crash just off the Old Cariboo Highway Friday, July 12. The North District RCMP say it happened at around 4:15 am on McRinney Road. Injuries were reported, however the severity is unknown.

Alternatives for raw log exports

The province has brought in some new regulations to further curb the shipment of raw logs out of country with a new fee-in-lieu charge. Brian O’Rourke, President of Local 1-2017 says proposes a return of appurtenancy provisions, something that was quashed by the BC Liberals in 2003. Those provisions set out that a log that is harvested in one region must also be milled in that region.

Bid process opens to extend northern inter-city bus services

The provincial government has opened up the bid process to extend northern inter-city bus service in northern B.C. through to March 21, 2021. The ministry says the request for proposal will remain open on BCBid until Aug. 22, 2019 at 2. p.m. Pacific time.
