UNBC prof reflects on election campaign
PRINCE GEORGE — With the polls about to close, we caught up with a local political scientist today to look back at the biggest issues that were raised during the 40 day election campaign – along with some that were surprisingly ignored. He even takes a look into his crystal ball and predicts who may be celebrating tonight.
While Dr. Gary Wilson says climate change seemed to be the focus for much of the campaign, he admits one major issued wasn’t front and centre – the SNC Lavalin scandal.
As for winners and losers locally, he says the Conservatives are a safe bet to hold the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies riding but thinks Cariboo-Prince George will be much closer.
Nationally, Wilson expects a very close race but likes the Liberals chances of coming out on top – likely with a minority government.
