UPDATED: Police incident in Willow River

WILLOW RIVER — UPDATE: Prince George RCMP are continuing to investigate after a shooting that took place early this morning.

At around 1:30 AM on Thursday, Jan.16th the Prince George RCMP received a report of two people in hospital with injuries consistent with being shot. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

After speaking with the victims, RCMP were led to believe that the duo had been shot by someone known to them on the 3100 block of Westwood Drive in Prince George.

As RCMP were patrolling for the suspect they found him in a large SUV and attempted to stop him, however, the suspect fled the area.

Further investigation led to officers to the suspect’s vehicle parked outside a residence in Willow River, east of Prince George. The Prince George RCMP’s Police Dog Services Unit and the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team were called out to assist.

Later that morning four adult females and six adult males were taken into custody without incident, the suspect was not among them.

RCMP have yet to confirm the reason behind the incident but RCMP do believe that this was a targeted attack. Prince George RCMP do not believe that this incident is associated with the attempted murder that occurred on Tuesday, Jan.14th in Prince George.

EARLIER: Prince George RCMP Mounties are part of an ongoing police presence at a home in Willow River, just east of Prince George, in connection with an investigation concerning public safety.

The Detachment’s Police Dog Services Unit and the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (provincial) have been called in to assist.

Police have surrounded the residence and are attempting to have occupants of the house exit without incident.

The public is asked to avoid the area.
