QUESNEL — A truck driver was seriously injured this week when his transport truck ran him over when he was attempting to get his disabled truck off Highway 97.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen says it happened Wednesday (Feb.5) at around 1:30 p.m.

“The Quesnel RCMP were responding to a complaint of a jack-knifed transport truck on Highway 97 by Marguerite Ferry Road,” he says.

“While enroute, a second report was received that the driver of the transport truck was accidentally run over by wheels of the trailer.”

Weseen says an investigation leads police to believe that another truck driver was assisting the man by moving the truck while the man directed him. They believe the man then lost his footing and was over by the trailer tires.

The man was transported to Williams Lake by ambulance and was then airlifted to Vancouver with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Weseen says WorkSafe BC has been notified and notes the investigation is ongoing.
